Solomon's - Kuchan persian rugs The look: Kuchan
(Quochan) rugs usually have geometric patterns. They posses much similarity
with other Kurdish rugs from the east of Iran. The influence of Turkomen
rugs has played a role in Kuchan rug patterns. The general feel for
quality: The quality of Kuchan rugs are generally very good - a
sophisticated blend of a fine yet sturdy feel. Shape and style: Kuchan
rugs have different sizes where the majority are mid size (4x6 to 8x10
feet). Color: The main colors used in different Kuchans are dark burgundy, indigo, ivory and light green. Pile texture: Soft wool, thin, tight piles. Foundation: Warps
are mostly cotton, wefts either cotton or wool. Solomon's finest sources: Kuchan is the mystical city of mineral spring waters and the Ableh and Bardeh Rostam caves. In medieval ages, Kuchan was famous as "Khabooshan" and "Khoojan". Kuchan was rebuilt in the time of Holakookhan. Shah Abbas I transferred Kord warriors to this region to prevent Ozbaks and Turkmen attacks. In the year 1791 AD., Nader Shah was killed in "Tapeh Nader" (Nader's hill) close to this city. Its historical sites mostly come from the 12th century AD. |
